Police: Hypodermic needle found in slice of bread


MAHOPAC, N.Y. – Carmel Police are investigating an incident in which a 15-year-old found a hypodermic needle in a slice of bread.

On October 25, 2013, a resident of Mahopac, New York, contacted the Town of Carmel Police Department to report an incident of consumer product tampering. The caller reported to police that while her 15-year old was eating a slice of toast, he observed a hypodermic needle in the slice of bread.

The caller reported that the loaf of Bimbo brand white bread was purchased on October 23rd at the Stop & Shop Supermarket located on Route 6, in Baldwin Place, New York, in the Town of Somers. The Stop & Shop Supermarket and Bimbo Bakeries were notified of the incident, as was the Westchester County Department of Health and the statewide Consumer Product Tampering database.
