Pedestrian struck, injured in Colonie

COLONIE, N.Y. – A 45-year-old man has been transported to Albany Medical Center after police say he was hit while crossing a street.

The accident occurred at 7 p.m. at Central Avenue and Oliver Street. According to police, a preliminary investigation shows the pedestrian, Henry Parson of Schenectady, was intoxicated when he walked onto Central Avenue.  Police say Parson was not walking in the "Cross Walk" at the time of the accident.

Parson was transported to the hospital with head injuries and he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, 55-year-old Stephen ONeal, was not injured.  

The Colonie Police Traffic Safety Unit is still investigating the cause of the accident. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Colonie Police at 518-783-2744.
