ALBANY, N.Y. – State Police arrested two men for possessing illegal prescription pills after a traffic stop.
On Wednesday, Troopers pulled over a black BMW on I-87 for a light violation. Upon interviewing the driver, 24-year-old Stephen Booth, the Trooper noticed the passenger was trying to hide something.
The passenger was identified as Thomas McCormick, 24, of Clifton Park. McCormick was asked to step outside of the BMW and while questioning the man, the Trooper saw a large bag of pills fell from McCormick's waistband and landed on the ground.
State Police say the bag was holding 257 pills of Oxycodone.
During further investigation, Troopers found another 14 pills of Oxycodone and 3 Alprazolam, also known as Xanax.
Booth has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance outside of the Original Container. He was given an appearance ticket and will be back in Albany City Court on November 1.
McCormick has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug with the Intent to Sell in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, both felonies. He was arraigned and sent to Albany County Jail to await a felony hearing.
