Phish rocks out in Glens Falls, few arrests

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – Rock band Phish played the Glens Falls Civic Center Wednesday night and thousands turned out for the show.

It has been 19 years since Phish played in Glens Falls, and fans traveled from miles away to get a chance to see the group on stage.

Kelly Lacilla travelled from Connecticut.

"When they came here in 1994, they played on Halloween and played the entire White album, and they haven't been here since," she said. "That's why it is so exciting."

Glens Falls mayor Jack Diamond said the city prepared for the show for months.

"We rolled out the red carpet," he said. "Everyone is ready, and this is such a wonderful event for the community. We're so excited."

Dennis Desrosiers travelled from Long Island and said Glens Falls could not have been more welcoming.

"It's not often you see a place this excited. Restaurants name special dishes in honor of Phish. It's great," he said.

Law enforcement patrolled the streets Wednesday afternoon to keep an eye on things, and Glens Falls police said there were only a handful of arrests for minor incidents.
