BENNINGTON, Vt. – Vermont State Police say they are investigating a suspicious fire that happened early Sunday morning.
According to authorities, the Bennington Fire Department responded to 113 Gage Street in the Town of Bennington for a fire at an apartment building. Three other fire departments were called in to aid with the fire.
The blaze was suppressed within 30 minutes. Authorities say the 32-year-old female occupant was not injured. However, there is about $20,000 worth of damage and the building is considered a total loss.
The Vermont State Police Fire Investigation Unit and an investigator with the Division of Fire Safety responded to the scene after fire crews deemed the blaze suspicious.
Based on results, authorities say the cause of the fire is arson.
