GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- A Guilderland man charged with arson after police say he set fire to an abandoned building now faces additional charges in connection to two other fires.
Matthew Woelfersheim, 37, was arrested on Monday for third-degree arson, a felony, for allegedly starting a fire at an abandoned building on September 30th.
On Thursday he will face two additional counts of felony arson in connection to two separate fires. The first occurred on July 8th at 3424 Carman Road in the Town of Guilderland, during which a garage was destroyed. The second was at 40 Stone Road in the town on October 14th, in which a barn was totally destroyed.
Woelfersheim is a former member of the Scaghticoke Fire Department, and now Guilderland Police Captain Curtis Cox says as the investigation continues, authorities will be looking to see if Woelfersheim could be responsible for any other fires that broke out in Guilderland and the Capital Region.
