Pittsfield man gets prison time for attacking teen

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Pittsfield man who stole $5 and a cellphone during an armed attack on a teenage cyclist has been sentenced to up four years in state prison.
Solomon Jones III was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery stemming from the May 2102 attack.
Prosecutors said the 20-year-old Jones was one of two men who jumped out of a car and attacked the 17-year-old boy, striking him in the head with a gun, punching him, slamming him to the ground and stabbing him in the leg.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that the victim also suffered a broken elbow and was hospitalized.
The assailants stole $5, a cellphone and keys.
