Parents, neighbors worry about violence at Schenectady middle school

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Schenectady School District Superintendent Larry Spring is trying to tone down the violence at Mont Pleasant Middle School by first permenantly removing 18 students from the school and breaking up an all-girl fight club. Yet, more parents and kids have been coming forward with stories of fights and intimidation at the school.

Things got especially bad last Friday afternoon when parents say the Mont Pleasant Middle School went into lockdown due to a fight inside the school.

Neighbors, too, say they are tired of dealing with the fights between students and even parents, which they say are occurring on a daily basis.

Schenectady police tell NEWS10 ABC they assign extra patrols to the middle school during dismissal time but did not say exactly how many officers stay outside the school.
