Police: Man leaves store with food in pants, leads cops on chase

TROY, N.Y. - Troy police say a man is now facing charges after he left Price Chopper with steak and seafood hidden in his pants.

Police say the incident occurred around 2 a.m. Tuesday when employees noticed 41-year-old Henry Holmes of Troy put the food in his pants and walk out of the store.

Employees alerted police to the description of his vehicle, which officers were able to locate on Third Avenue where a pursuit began. The chase lasted for about four blocks before Holmes struck a pole on 104th Street. Police say a foot pursuit then began.

Holmes was eventually taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers.

He is charged with Petit Larceny, Leaving the Scene of an accident, Unlicensed operation and resisting arrest.
