POESTENKILL, N.Y. -- Three young women have been charged with trespassing after they needed to be helped out of the Poestenkill Gorge on Monday.
According to police, the three RPI students were trying to climb down the gorge while hiking there when they got stuck and called for help.
Emergency crews used ropes to help them to the bottom at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Hiking in that area is prohibited because of the dangerous conditions.
All three are scheduled to appear in Troy City Court on Tuesday.
