BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Construction of the University at Buffalo's new medical school is officially getting under way.
A ceremonial groundbreaking is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
The $375 million facility will be located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, an expanding hub of hospitals and biomedical science companies in downtown Buffalo. The current medical school is on the university's south campus several miles away.
UB says the new facility will allow it to hire 100 new medical faculty members and increase the size of its medical school class from 140 to 180 students.
It's expected to be completed in 2016.
