Three locations in separate counties collecting adult bicycles to help people in Uganda

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – There is a three county bike collection on Saturday.

Bicycles for Humanity (B4H) will be collecting used adult bicycles at Siena College in Loudonville, Elevate Cycles in Clifton Park, and Inside Edge in Glens Falls.

The organization will ship these bicycles to Uganda so citizens can train to be bike mechanics which opens business opportunities to the communities.  The bikes also help children travel to schools that are too far away from their home to walk.

B4H recently sent their first shipment of 421 bikes to the African country.

The organization says that the United States discards about 10 million bicycles every year and only 50,000 bikes are distributed to developing countries.

At Siena College and Inside Edge, the collection is from 9:30am - 12:30pm. At Elevate Cycles the event is 10am-1pm.
