Judge rules case of mother accused of hiring strippers for her teen can go to trial

MOREAU, N.Y. –  A mother accused of hiring strippers for her son's 16th birthday party will be back in court on October 30th.

33-year-old Judy Viger, of Gansevoort, was charged earlier this year with five counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the Moreau Town Court. Her lawyers entered a motion for dismissal of her case in July.

Justice Timothy Alden ruled on Wednesday there is enough evidence for Viger's case to head to trial.

Viger was charged after police investigated claims that the mother hired exotic dancers for the birthday party after parents found photos posted to social networking sites.  According to authorities, on November 3rd 2012 at the Spare Time bowling alley on Saratoga Road, Viger hired two exotic dancer's for her son's 16th birthday party.

At least one image posted online showed a nearly nude, tattooed woman clinging upside down to a seated teen, with her head between his knees and legs wrapped around his neck, as others look on.

Authorities claim Viger organized, managed, and paid for the party where the exotic dancers were hired to perform. Five of the party attendees, including Viger's son, were under the age of 17.

Viger's attorney said the mother only hired a bikini gram where one woman would dress in a bikini and sing happy birthday to the teenager.

She faces up to one year in jail if convicted.
