TROY, N.Y. – Two teenagers have been arrested after admitting to stealing from a Colleen Road home.
Troy Police say they reported to a call around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday about four subjects acting suspicious in the Emerald Greens neighborhood. A resident of the neighborhood told police that unfamiliar subjects who looked like juveniles were walking through the area.
As authorities arrived to the area, one patrol unit located two males walking away from the neighborhood. Police say one of the suspects was trying to avoid contact with the responding officer. As more patrol units arrived to the scene, police were able to apprehend a two males ages 14 and 15.
After an initial investigation, authorities found that a residence on Colleen Road was broken into and a number of jewelry items were stolen.
The teenagers admitted to committing the crime. They are now in secure detention at the Albany County Juvenile Correctional Facility pending Family Court action, according to Troy Police.
Investigators are working on determining if the teenagers are connected to other residential burglaries reported in nearby neighborhoods over the last two months.
