STILLWATER, N.Y. – One local man has been arrested after he was accused of assaulting a woman who was holding a baby.
Stillwater Police say they responded to a call of a physical domestic on Friday. As officer's arrived they were told Jared Putnam, 21, had slapped, punched, kicked and choked a female while she was holding an 8 week old child in her arms.
The victim's cell phone was also damaged during the incident, allegedly to prevent the woman from calling police.
According to authorities, Putnam left the residence with the infant before authorities arrived. The infant was located unharmed by police.
Putnam was found on Saturday and was arrested. He has been charged with felony Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree and misdemeanors Criminal Mischief 4th degree, Assault 3rd degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Putnam was arraigned in Stillwater Town Court and was sent to Saratoga County Jail on $5,000 bail.
An order of protection has been issued against him, barring him from being able to contact the victim or infant.
