ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Foliage spotters are predicting peak colors with near complete leaf change by the weekend in some of the Adirondack Mountains.
In Essex County, leaf peepers at Whiteface Mountain expect peak fall foliage conditions by the weekend, with 70 percent color change and brilliant shades of orange and red predominating. Nearby in the Lake Placid-High Peaks region, foliage is just past peak, while color change is not quite yet peak in Keene Valley.
In Franklin County, foliage observers in the Mt. Arab-Tupper Lake area expect a wide range of fall hues just past peak.
Peak fall colors also have begun to appear in the Catskills region. Observers for Empire State Development's I LOVE NEW YORK program say this weekend look for peak conditions in Delaware and Greene counties.
