Troy launches new crime mapping software to keep residents informed
TROY, N.Y. – The City of Troy has launched a crime mapping software for public use in order to keep residents informed about recent crimes.
Captain Cooney with the Troy Police Department says all reported crime in the city will be mapped with a 72 hour posting delay. This delay will give investigators a "first look" at the incidents so their investigations are not hindered.
The information on the crimes will be embedded on the map and those who view it can sort the map by date range and type of crimes.
Troy is the second community in the State of New York to use this type of software.
