Schenectady Police: Trustco Bank robbed on Union St.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Schenetady Police Department says a bank robbery occurred at the Trustco Bank on Upper Union Street in the city Wednesday morning, and that a suspect is in custody.

When the arrived on scene, officers interviewed employees from the bank who stated that a male had just entered the bank and given a teller a note demanding money and stating that he had bomb. The male fled out the rear of the bank towards Eastern Parkway with an unknown amount of money.

A male matching that description was stopped and detained near Central Park and was positively identified as the male in question. Aram Silva, 28, was transported down to Schenectady Police Headquarters and interviewed by members of the Schenectady Police Departments Detective Division. 

Silva has been charged with felony Robbery and is being held at the Schenectady Police Department awaiting arraignment on Thursday, October, 3rd.
