STILLWATER, N.Y. -- Stillwater Police say a 9 and 10-year-old are now facing felony charges after a week-long investigation shows they entered private property and caused nearly $9,000 in damage.
Stillwater Police say they have been investigating a burglary and criminal mischief incident on a private property in the Village of Stillwater which resulted in thousands of dollars in damage.
It was discovered during the investigation that the two juveniles entered the property and caused nearly $9,000 in damage. According to police, the juveniles operated a tractor until it became disabled in a field and then filled fuel tanks of vehicles with oil, anti-freeze and water. Police say they also spray painted several vehicles on the property and caused damage to a boat by striking it repeatedly with an axe. They also started a fire which did not spread before fleeing the area.
The duo was identified and located at their residences in the Stillwater area.
They are being referred to Saratoga County Family Court through the Probation Department. The charges are equivalent to Burglary 3rd-degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd-degree, both felonies, if their actions would have been committed by an adult. They were released to the custody of their parents.
