TROY, N.Y. - A 28-foot long, 12-foot wide Idaho potato is spending the day in Troy's Riverfront Park on Monday.
The Great Big Idaho Potato Truck is on a seven-month cross-country journey and will visit 72 cities in 28 states, meeting hundreds of thousands of customers along the way to help raise funds and awareness for Meals On Wheels, a non-profit organization that delivers more than one million meals each day to homebound seniors.
The potato will be brought to Riverfront Park on a 48-foot long flatbed trailer.
The extra-large potato will be in Troy from noon to 6 p.m. Monday.
A 48-foot long flatbed trailer featuring a 28-foot long, 12-foot wide and 11.5-foot tall Idaho® potato specially "cultivated" in honor of the Idaho Potato Commission's (IPC) 75th anniversary year in 2012.
