Police: Standoff ends with suspect in custody in Fort Edward


FORT EDWARD, N.Y. – Police in Fort Edward say an eight hour long standoff took place early Sunday resulting in one man taken into custody.

According to Fort Edward Police, around 1 a.m. Sunday, they responded to calls of shots fired on Notre Dame Street in the village.

When authorities arrived to the area, they found no one was hit and the suspect had entered his home at 36 Notre Dame Street and refused to leave.

Several streets were shut down in the area during the standoff. 

Authorities used a PA system and a siren to contact the suspect. 

Police have not released the name of the suspect, however they did tell NEWS10 ABC that they were going to be arraigned soon and face a number of charges on felony and misdemeanor levels.

Fort Edward Police are still investigating this incident.
