ALBANY, N.Y. – Governor Cuomo has announced Saturday that NY State's Housing Recovery Program will fully compensate homeowners affected by Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee, and Superstorm Sandy.
The compensation will go towards costs of repairs on the homes.
FEMA has a current National Flood Insurance Program which has regulations that state, damage caused by the movement of coil or each, even if caused by flooding, is not eligible for coverage.
Physical damage to the building caused by flood waters is covered under the program. However, the coverage gap has left hundreds of New Yorkers with denied claims.
New York will continue to reach out to homeowners to guarantee that those interested can apply for assistance.
The Office of Storm Recovery, which was created in June
2013, will also be providing technical assistance to those who are part of the
New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program. For more information, call 1-855-697-7263 or
