EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – An investigation, which took nearly a month, has led to the arrest of one man who is now accused of Arson.
The Rensselaer Police Department Detective Office arrested Christopher Gaul, 33, for 3rd Degree Arson, 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, and Trespassing.
According to authorities, on September 2nd around 12:30 a.m. police responded to a call of a fire at 35 Columbia Street, the Bella Automotive car lot. Officers say that when they arrived, a vehicle, parked next to the building, was on fire.
After the investigation, it was determined the fire was started intentionally.
Gaul was arrested on Thursday and has been arraigned on his charged in Rensselaer City Court. He was sent to Rensselaer County Jail on $15,000 bail and will be back in court on October 1.
