TROY, N.Y. - Hudson Valley Community college says a student has been arrested after making a bomb threat at the school early Thursday.
HVCC officials say 18-year-old Nicholas Lemieux of Troy allegedly posted a perceived bomb threat on Twitter on Thursday morning. Lemieux was arrested by college public safety officers around 9:30 a.m. after they were alerted of the post which included threatening language and a graphic icon of a bomb, after a student brought it to a professor's attention.
Following an investigation, it was determined that the threat was not serious, and the college community was not in danger.
Lemieux was brought to Troy Police and has been charged with Aggravated Harassment 2nd-degree, a misdemeanor.
HVCC says they have a zero tolerance policy for threats of this nature or others that could harm our students, faculty, staff, or visitors in any way.
