Jury convicts Clifton Park woman of manslaughter after fatal November car crash

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – A Clifton Park woman has been convicted of Manslaughter following a car crash that killed another driver.

Traci Briskin, 39, has been found guilty on all charges after a 10 day jury trial in Saratoga County.

On November 30, 2012, Briskin was driving her vehicle in a reckless manner when she crossed the center line twice, took her eyes off the road, and ran a stop sign on Jockey Street in Charlton.  Saratoga County District Attroney James Murphy III says Briskin then crashed into 49-year-old Thomas Baker, who had the right of way while driving on Route 67.

After the accident, Baker was taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries.  He was placed in the intensive care unit but succumbed to his injuries on December 23.

Briskin has been found guilty of Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Driving While Ability Impaired.  This verdict carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in State Prison.

Briskin's sentencing date has been scheduled for December 2.
