COLONIE, N.Y. – Around 800 families are expected to pick up food and personal care items Thursday as part of the Americans Feeding Americans project.

Jezreel International, a local non-profit humanitarian aid organization, is partnering with Feed the Children to distribute over 20 tons of food and personal care products to Capital Region families.

The families were provided vouchers through local shelters and distribution channels. Each family will receive 25 pounds of food and 15 pounds of personal care products.

Americans Feeding Americans was started by Feed the Children as a nationwide caravan to deliver food and essentials to communities throughout the United States. Feed the Children is an international charity headquartered out of Oklahoma City to combat hunger and poverty.

Capital Region families with vouchers will arrive at the Jezreel International warehouse between 9 a.m. to noon to receive their food and personal care items. Albany Police, Colonie Police and the Albany County Sheriff's department will be assisting during the event.
