Albany exhibit celebrates Latino arts culture

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A new exhibit at New York's Capitol marks Hispanic Heritage Month.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says it displays the work of some of the state's major Latino artists, writers and performers. The exhibit called Celebrating Hispanic Culture/Celebrando Nuestra Cultura Hispana is in the War Room on the second floor of the building in downtown Albany.

It includes artifacts from the careers of actress Chita Rivera, musicians Willie Colón, Tito Puente and Rubén Blades, playwrights Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegria Hudes, singers Celia Cruz and Héctor Lavoe and choreographer Tina Ramirez.

There's a first edition of Oscar Hijuelos' Pulitzer Prize novel, "The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love," and recordings of artists including Raul Soler and Xavier Cugat.
