NY holding workshops on pesticide alternatives


ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The Department of Environmental Conservation is holding workshops across the state on alternatives to pesticides at schools and day care centers.
The training is for administrators and other school and day care personnel. New York law prohibits the use of most pesticides on turf, athletic and playing fields and grounds at schools at day care centers.
DEC received funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the workshops.

The workshops are in Old Bethpage, Long Island, on Sept. 25;   Syracuse on Sept. 30; Oct. 1 in Albany; Oct. 7 in Rochester; and Oct. 8 in Buffalo.
