Inspector General: State nurse arrested for forging prescription

MIDDLEGROVE, N.Y. – A nurse employed by the State of New York has been accused of forging a prescription.

According to the NYS Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott, Gregory Wait, 50, was arrested after an investigation.  Scott says Wait was employed by the State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.  He is accused of forging a doctor's signature to obtain Valium.

The investigation revealed that Wait allegedly used a physician's signature stamp to create the prescription in his own name. The prescription was then faxed to a Lake Luzerne Pharmacy where it was picked up and signed for on the pharmacy's signature pad.

Wait has been placed on leave since the forged prescription was discovered.

He has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Forgery, and Official Misconduct.
