Woman, 20, arrested for DWI after driving the wrong way in a work zone
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – A 20-year-old woman has been arrested for DWI after State Police say she was driving the wrong way in a work zone around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
State Police say Jennifer Simpson of Mechanicville entered the Thruway at Exit 24 and headed west until she came to the end of the ramp, became confused, and U-Turned. Police say she was then driving east in the west bound passing lane.
As Simpson entered the Exit 24 work zone, a Trooper witnessed her driving the wrong way, now headed south in the northbound passing lane.
The passing lane was promptly shut down for about 20 minutes before Simpson and her vehicle were removed.
Troopers say Simpson was driving with a BAC of .12% and she was arrested for DWI. She was released to her relatives and will be in the Town of Guilderland Court on September 26.
