Fatal single car crash in Vermont, driver wasn't wearing seat belt

RUTLAND, Vt. – Vermont State Police say there was a fatal single car crash early Sunday morning.

Police say that shortly before 3a.m. they responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Vermot Route 103 in Mount Holly. 

As authorities investigated they determined the operator, Jared Alexander, 33, was driving his car northbound when he left the eastside of the roadway and struck a tree.

Alexander was taken to the Rutland Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries sustained from the crash.

State Police say he was not wearing a seat belt.
