CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – A tractor trailer accident that occurred on the Northway Tuesday night between Exit 8A and Exit 9 is in the clean-up phase.

According to New York State Police, the tractor trailer was breached, striking trees as it left the road way around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night.

Public Information Officer Mark Ciepel tells NEWS10 ABC that the driver of the tractor trailer is not from the area and his identity is not being released.  The driver was taken to Albany Medical Center after complaining of internal injuries.  The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Ciepal says the trailer was carrying 38,000 pounds of used auto batteries.

The accident is still being cleared and it is unknown how long the clean-up phase will take.  In the meantime, traffic is flowing in the area but with lane restrictions.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
