ALBANY, N.Y. -- After months of campaigning, Kathy Sheehan will be the democratic candidate vying to be Albany's next mayor in the November 5th general election.
The clear front runner in the race, Sheehan, cast her ballot Tuesday with her husband at her side. Sheehan, who now serves as the city's treasurer, was confident greeting poll workers.
Her opponent in the race, Corey Ellis, a former city councilman, did not respond by press time to attempts to reach him.
The latest YNN/Siena Poll though showed Sheehan with 68 percent support of likely voters compared to just 20 percent for Ellis.
Current Mayor Jerry Jennings has served as Albany's mayor for more than two decades.
