RUTLAND, Vt. - You should always buckle up when you drive your car but Rutland police are giving you an extra reason to do so. They are conducting Sobriety and Safety Seat Checkpoints in Rutland during the month of September.
The checkpoints are focused on people who drink and drive and are under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. They are also going to pay close attention to children's car seats making sure they are installed properly.
Rutland police say they had four fatal accidents last year and half of them involved someone driving under the influence or a drug or alcohol. The checkpoints will be random and happening in several locations in Rutland all month long so buckle up!
