COPAKE, N.Y. – The Columbia County Sheriff's Office says one woman was killed and two teens seriously injured in a two-car crash on Route 23 in the Town of Copake Tuesday morning.

Police received the call reporting two cars were involved in a head-on crash near Taconic Hills High School, at Route 23 and Bloody Hill Road around 8 a.m. Tuesday involving three people.

At the scene, crews found a small sedan and a Jeep Cherokee SUV crashed. The driver in the sedan, 28-year-old Tilla Simmons from Egremont, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people in the Jeep - the driver, 17-year-old Jordan Fuller of Hudson, and a 15-year-old passenger - were taken by ambulance to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The Sheriff's Office says an investigation revealed the sedan was traveling westbound on Route 23 and for unknown reasons traveled over into the eastbound lane striking the Jeep.

The superintendent says the teens were both students at Taconic Hills High School and were on their way to school when the accident happened.
