ALBANY, N.Y. -- Two people are in custody for handgun possession following a traffic stop on Teunis Street in Albany.
On Sunday, September 8th, at about 1:10 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on Teunis Street for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. During the course of the traffic stop, the officer observed the front seat passenger, Zameek Cooper, 28, of Albany, trying to conceal an opened alcoholic beverage in his lap.
During the course of his investigation, a small bag of crack cocaine and a loaded .40 caliber handgun were also located inside the vehicle.
Cooper was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th. He was also cited for Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage under the General City Ordinances.
The driver, Jacquelyn Hallock, 25, of Saratoga Springs, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. She was also cited for a tinted window violation under the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Both Cooper and Hallock were arraigned Sunday morning in the Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
