Albany Medical College receives $3M grant

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany Medical College has received nearly $3 million from the National Institutes of Health.

The five year grant will help develop a universal vaccine strategy that could be used to produce vaccines to protect against many different diseases.

Dr. Edmund Gosselin, a professor at the college, says vaccine development is often slow and unsuccessful because scientists use diverse approaches.

He says Albany Medical Collage has proposed a single approach, or template, that can be developed to make new vaccines.
