Saratoga Race Course attendance, handle down this year
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - New York Racing Association reports that both the total handle and attendance both declined slightly during the 2013 racing meet at Saratoga Race Course.
handle, which includes wagers on Saratoga races both on-track and from simulcast
outlets nationwide, was around $586 million, a decline of of
0.3 percent from last year's $588 million handle. On-track handle totaled about $147 million, off 2.1 percent from $150 million last year.
Attendance for the meet totaled 867,182 patrons, 3.9 percent less than 901,033 patrons in 2012.
There were 200 turf races and
24 races taken off the turf and moved to the main track in 2013, compared to
197 on and 27 off in 2012.
