SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Over 1,000 Schenectady City School District employees are expected to attend the pep rally Tuesday for the opening of the school year.
This is the first time that city district leaders are bringing together staff for a welcome back ceremony. Employees from each of the 19 schools will wear their individual school colors and be seated together by school and labeled with signs made by the Schenectady High School cheerleaders.
The event started with a breakfast followed by cheerleaders and high school marching band opening the pep rally at 8:30 a.m. in the gymnasium.
The pep rally included games with prizes that have been donated from community businesses, staff skit, student speakers and employee recognition.
Tuesday is the first day of the 2013-2014 school year for staff, and students return Wednesday, September 4.
