Slingerlands bank robbery suspect waives extradition

ALBANY, N.Y. – The suspect in an armed robbery of the Trustco Bank in Slingerlands in August, who was later captured in South Carolina, has formally waived extradition back to New York State.

The Bethlehem Police Department and New York State Police say they tentatively intend to extradite Victor A. Shear on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, back to New York.  He will be arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court shortly after his return.

Shear, a fugitive from justice, was arrested by the North Myrtle Beach Police Department in South Carolina.

Anthony Zumbolo, 40, of Amsterdam, was arrested on Monday, August 26 and charged with Hindering Prosecution in the second-degree. The Bethlehem Police Department says Zumbolo informed the suspect that he was being sought by police. The information Zumbolo allegedly provided resulted in Shear being able to avoid arrest by fleeing to South Carolina.
