ALBANY, N.Y. – SEFCU held its 25th annual Labor Day 5k race on Monday to support local non-profit organizations.
Five non-profits were up against a vote to determine how the proceeds from the race would be distributed. The organization that received the most votes, Capital City Rescue Mission, will receive $25,000. Two organizations with the next highest number of votes, City Mission of Schenectady and Albany Housing Coalition, will each receive $2,500.
Winners were chosen by an online, public vote.
The five organizations up for a vote were the Albany Housing Coalition, Capital City Rescue Mission, CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services, Literacy New York Greater Capital District and City Mission of Schenectady.
The race was coordinated by the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club, and a one-mile fun run for kids immediately followed the race.
