NY woman's videotaped arrest being investigated

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Rochester's police chief says officers showed "tremendous restraint" while subduing a teenage boy and his sister during an arrest that was videotaped and posted on YouTube.

The video taken Tuesday by the son of a neighbor shows the 21-year-old resisting an officer's efforts to cuff her hands behind her back as she tells the officer she's pregnant. While other officers are trying to handcuff her 16-year-old brother, the woman is hit in the head by the officer and slammed to the ground.

Police Chief James Sheppard told local media outlets Wednesday that the officer tried to handcuff the woman after she pointed a can of pepper spray at them when officers attempted to arrest her brother following a family dispute.

Sheppard says the officer's actions during the arrest will be investigated.
