Suspect in Slingerlands armed robbery arrested in South Carolina

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – A wanted fugitive has been captured in connection to the armed bank robbery of the Trustco Bank in Slingerlands, on August 21st.

On Wednesday, August 28, Victor A. Shear, a fugitive from justice, was arrested by the North Myrtle Beach Police Department in South Carolina.

According to authorities, his capture was the result of continuous efforts of the Bethlehem Police Department and New York State Police during a week long investigation.  He is currently being held in South Carolina pending extradition proceedings.

Anthony Zumbolo, 40, of Amsterdam, was arrested Monday and charged with Hindering Prosecution in the second-degree. The Bethlehem Police Department says Zumbolo informed the suspect that he was being sought by police. The information Zumbolo allegedly provided resulted in Shear being able to avoid arrest.

The investigation into Shear's travel out of state and to those who may have aided in his efforts to avoid apprehension is still continuing.

The Bethlehem Police Department continues to work closely with New York State Police in reference to Shear's association to a previous bank robbery in Sharon Springs, earlier in 2013.
