ALBANY, N.Y. - A stolen bike that had been given to a local teenager though the Make-A-Wish Foundation has been returned.
14-year-old Ben Grant was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia at just 9-years old. Now in remission, Ben was excited when he received a rare Kink Brand BMX bike through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"I just saw it and I fell in love with it," he said.
But earlier this week, police in Guilderland say two bikes, including Ben's, were stolen from Crossgates Mall. Both bikes have now been returned.
Ben and his family were heartbroken. They say "the bike is very special to the teenager and he values it very much." So his family and friends took to Facebook, sharing a photo of the bike, asking for it to be returned.
"We don't have to know who you are. I really hope that you learn from this that some kids go through a lot of heartache and hardship to get what they have," Ben's mom, Gina Grant said to the suspect. "If you could just please return the bike somehow. Have somebody just return it for you and drop it off to the Guilderland Police Department."
