Stewart’s wins big at 2013 World Dairy Expo

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Stewart's Shops Blueberry Pomegranate Greek frozen yogurt, known as Blueberry Patch, has been named the world's best at the 2013 World Dairy Expo.

The flavor, which is new this year, ranked number one in the frozen yogurt category.

Stewart's Dark Chocolate took second place in the dark chocolate category. This is the flavor's sixth win in seven years. In addition, the locally-named Crumbs Along The Mohawk, known for its graham cracker flavor with graham cracker pieces and caramel swirl, placed third in the open category.

"I work with some talented ice cream makers," said Stewart's President Gary Dake, "But this is a win that we can also share with our local farmers, who produce the fresh milk our great-tasting ice cream is made with, right at our dairy in Greenfield Center."

Blueberry Patch, which was introduced this spring as a seasonal flavor at the cone counter, will now be available year-round due to its popularity with Stewart's customers. Stewart's Dark Chocolate is available in pints and as part of the Chocolate Trifecta half gallon, while Crumbs Along The Mohawk is sold in both pints and as full half gallons.

The World Dairy Expo is an international competition held each year in Madison, Wisconsin. Each entry is ranked on flavor, body, texture, melting quality, color, and appearance. This year, the contest received a record number of entries.  Judging was held August 13-15.
