ALBANY, N.Y. - An Arizona man was stopped by TSA officers at Albany International Airport on Sunday after the officer who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray machine spotted the two guns in the man's carry-on bag.
TSA contacted the Albany County Sheriff's Department who responded and determined that the guns were actually replicas. There was no impact to airport operations.
The man, who was flying to Chicago, was permitted to catch his flight—minus the replica guns.
The TSA would like to remind passengers that replica weapons are not permitted in carry-on bags. They say toys and replica firearms looks like actual real guns inside an X-ray machine, and when they are spotted inside carry-on baggage, it delays the owner of the bag as well as other passengers who are at the security checkpoint.
