$1 million lotto ticket unclaimed in New York

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The clock is ticking for a mystery Powerball winner in New York State who now has just one week left to claim a $1 million prize, Lottery officials say Monday.

The winning ticket was from the August 25, 2012 Powerball drawing and was sold at Playland Market, in Rye, Westchester County.

Prizes can be claimed up to a year after the drawing, which means the winner has only one week left, until August 25, 2013, to claim the prize.

As is always the case, if the prize is not claimed, the money will be returned to the prize pool for future winners.

The winning numbers from the August 25, 2012 Powerball drawing were 1 – 6 – 7 – 20 – 49 Powerball 23.

Lottery officials recommend that the ticket holder sign the back of the ticket and take it to any New York Lottery retailer to scan the ticket.

Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket should call the Lottery at 518-388-0563. The winner may claim the ticket at any one of the Lottery's seven Customer Service Centers statewide.
