EATON, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a teen boy swam to the rescue of a 92-year-old driver whose car was sinking in a central New York lake.
They say 16-year-old Alex Travis of Kirkville was driving with a relative in the Madison County town of Eaton when he saw car that had driven off the road slipping under the water at the Bradley Brook Reservoir.
Troopers say Travis immediately jumped in, swam to the car, pulled Stuart Deland out through the driver's window and towed him to shore.
Deland, of West Eaton, was taken to a hospital to be checked out, but he wasn't injured.
The accident happened Thursday. Eaton is in Madison County, 30 miles southeast of Syracuse.
