Pittsfield fire injures Fire Lieutenant


PITTSFIELD, M.A. - There was a fire at a Pittsfield duplex early Saturday morning which injured one firefighter.

The Pittsfield Fire Department says the fire happened on 269 Francis Avenue around 1:15AM.

Authorities say the fire was in the rear of the building.  The second floor, attic, and rear porch have been damaged by the fire while the rest of the house suffered heat and smoke damage.

Crews were able to put the fire out about 2 hours after the call.

One Fire Lieutenant has non-life threatening injuries as a result of the fire.

Two families have been displaced.

It is unclear what caused the fire at this time.  Authorities are investigating.
