Philmont man arrested for alleged child sex abuse

CLAVERACK, N.Y. – A 37-year-old Philmont man has been arrested and charged after state police say he sexually abused a child.

New York State Police BCI at Livingston arrested and charged Michael T. Odom, 37, of Philmont, with felony Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the 2nd Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

After an investigation by the state police, Columbia County District Attorney Paul Czajka's Office, Columbia County CPS and the Columbia-Greene CAC, investigators determined that Odom had been sexually abusing the child over a great length of time.

Odom was arraigned on the charges in the Town of Claverack Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond. He is set to return to the Town of Claverack Court on August 20, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.
